Harvard university American Repertory Theater
The Harvard University American Repertory Theater, a cultural asset of the University, is creating a new home designed to provide a space for groundbreaking performances, public gatherings, teaching, and international research. The building will highlight a state-of-the-art main stage theater with two flexible performance venues - a 700-seat West Stage for large-scale productions and a 300-seat East Stage for productions requiring versatility. In addition, the building contains rehearsal studios and teaching spaces, a public lobby, cafe, and outdoor performance area.
TERVA Engineering is providing commissioning services for this project which includes progressive goals on energy efficiency and sustainability, LEED v4 Fundamental and Enhanced Compliance as required for Article 22. The program consists of a natural passive assist mechanical ventilation system for the main performance spaces which will include motorized dampers with plenums, towers and preheat systems. TERVA teamed with ENE Controls Structureware on this project.
In addition, TERVA has been contracted to assist Harvard for the first year of operation to efficiently transfer operational control of the building to the facilities staff.
