Bullock Residence Hall

Fire Alarm System Upgrade

Bullock Residence Hall, a 39,860 square foot building constructed in 1958, housing 129 beds, one apartment, and the University Police located in the basement, was in need of a Fire Alarm System upgrade. .

Safety is paramount

Tasked with designing a new Fire Alarm System, the TERVA Engineering Team worked closely with the Worcester Fire Department to meet the needs of both the City and the University. The TERVA Team devised a comprehensive overhaul and prepared a design to upgrade the System to meet current fire and safety codes and regulations. The scope of the project included replacement and upgrade of the existing addressable fire alarm system EST2 by Edwards, including all existing devices throughout the building. Additionally, local smoke detectors with intelligent addressable 24VDC low frequency sounder bases were installed in all residential rooms for public notification, and addressable carbon monoxide detectors were provided in public hallways throughout the entire building. This successful upgrade created an up-to-date, safe, and secure building for students and the University Police.
