To address the critical need for more beds, South Shore Hospital partnered with the TERVA Design Solutions Team to strategically plan, design, and renovate the Maternal Specialty Care Unit and create two separate units – a smaller Maternal Specialty Care Unit and a new Pediatric Unit. The challenge for this project was to design efficient, functional layouts that would meet the Department of Public Health requirements for Maternal Specialty Care and Pediatric Units.
Challenge met and accomplished
The TERVA Design Solutions Team utilized their experience and resources and got to work planning the design and layout for the two areas. By reallocating the space, the Team successfully accomplished the Hospital’s goal to provide additional Adult Med-Surg beds to better serve the needs of the community. The newly renovated Maternal Specialty Care and Pediatric Units were enhanced with freshly updated nurse stations, staff lounges, and support spaces all of which met the Department of Public Health requirements.
