UMASS AMHERST SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING
TERVA is honored to have been a part of the new University of Massachusetts Amherst School of Public Health and Health Sciences Hub project and proudly celebrated the opening at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on May 1, 2026. This milestone project reflects UMass Amherst’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, sustainability, and advancing the future of public health education through a dynamic and transformative new learning environment.
The 26,800 square foot hub unites the School’s six departments under one roof for the first time, creating a centralized environment designed to foster interdisciplinary learning, research, and collaboration. The facility features a multi-story common with exposed wood construction, expansive natural light, flexible learning environments, and collaborative gathering spaces. This project supports UMass Amherst’s sustainability goals through LEED Gold design standards and integrated stormwater management systems.
Beyond the architectural and environmental achievements, the Hub represents an important investment in addressing some of today’s most pressing public health challenges. The School’s rapidly growing programs focus on critical issues including mental health, addiction prevention, healthcare accessibility, and community wellness — helping prepare the next generation of public health leaders who will serve communities throughout Massachusetts and beyond.
Projects like the SPHHS Hub demonstrate how thoughtful planning, integrated design, and strong collaboration provide lasting value by creating an educational environment that positively impacts students, institutions, and the broader community.
TERVA congratulates UMass Amherst and the entire project team on this outstanding achievement and are grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of such an important and inspiring project.
